Beneath the Surface

$66.00

“Beneath the Surface” is an illustration that depicts resilience, depth and transformation.

Traditionally koi fish symbolise perseverance and strength, as they are known to swim upstream against strong currents. Koi embody the struggle and triumph over adversity. The lotus flower, while flourishing in muddy waters holds symbolism of both purity and rebirth.

Originally drawn with Copic markers and multiliners, this more traditionally inspired piece measures 32cm x 42cm and is printed on high-quality 350 GSM textured Tintoretto card.

Created during a personal period of grief, this piece reflects both a season of loss, and holds a process of healing, understanding and forgiveness.

It’s as a reminder of what can be created after hardship, capturing both the fleeting nature of life and the enduring spirit of ourselves and of those we love.
